Sarah Hall
As a kid growing up on a dairy farm, an active outdoor lifestyle came naturally to Sarah. Her interest in Physiotherapy began at a young age with her exposure to the profession through sports injuries that required physical rehab. Sarah played volleyball at Western University while completing an Honors degree in Kinesiology. Subsequently she attended the University of Alberta and graduated with her Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. Her most memorable outdoor adventure was the completion of the Yukon River Quest an ultra-marathon water race in the Yukon. She and her husband raced in a tandem kayak from Whitehorse to Dawson. She now enjoys being active with her family skiing, hiking and enjoying time on the water. Her professional career started in Edmonton where she trained in acupuncture and dry needling. With chronic pain being such a widespread problem it has been a focus of her training including courses from David Butler, a world renowned pain specialist. Sarah subsequently spent 9 years working at Sport Manitoba in Winnipeg. This allowed her to treat many high level athletes spanning a wide variety of sports. It was here that she gained knowledge in treating concussions while training to become an ImPACT trained Physiotherapist among other concussion courses. In addition to treating athletes her caseload has always included patients across the spectrum of activity levels and age. Sarah’s treatment philosophy has developed over the years from the many courses she has taken (see below). Her aim is to get people moving and help them to accomplish their goals whether that be pain relief, performance, return to activity or all 3. Often exercise and physical activity alone is not enough and this is where her dry needling and manual therapy training come in. The specific form of dry needling Sarah performs is called Gokavi Transverse Technique (GTT). This is a very effective treatment for increasing mobility and decreasing pain. Thus allowing patients to perform their exercises effectively and work towards their goals of therapy. Sarah is passionate about her career as a Physiotherapist and one of her favourite things about the profession is that there is always something more to learn. As such she continues to pursue post-graduate courses to increase her knowledge and expertise. Having recently moved to Fonthill with her husband and 2 children Sarah is excited to settle in and become a part of the community.
